This project involved the replacement of a floodway structure over the Gawler River that regularly overtopped resulting in the road being closed for up to 3 months of the year. The new bridge structure was constructed from reinforced concrete piled abutments with precast deck units. The increased level of the bridge and road approaches over the Gawler River will ensure that the road is accessible for the majority of the year with overtopping of the structure estimated to occur approximately every 5 years and for a short duration.
